Hobbies

I've always admired art since I was young, and the animations I watched growing up inspired me to create art of my own. I picked up drawing and started by imitating my favorite pokemon characters, which impressed my peers and pushed me to continue forward. Drawing was my escape from reality, and I could draw for hours without ever getting tired of it.

I was fortunately able to pursue my interest as I grew up and was able to make many different artworks in varying mediums. I enjoy drawing digitally for convenience, but I do love a good painting once in a while.

My grandmother introduced me to the world of crocheting when I visted her in Japan when I was a kid. She crocheted this small pouch in what felt like a minute, and ever since then I in awe of the craft of crochet. I picked up the needle and started with making a very long chain, then I continued to practice and make various things. I've created things such as doilies, scarves, and an entire sweater through crochet!

I've always had a dream to be in a band, rocking out to songs and feeling the thrill of performing. Thus I picked up the bass guitar and "coerced" ;) my friends into forming a band with me. The bass guitar is often overlooked in songs, but learning the bass guitar has made me realize the depth that the bass brings to songs. I've learnt various techniques through a hybrid of self-learning and some classes. I particularly enjoy slap bass, but I'm still trying to make it sound better and consistent

With my friends, I was able to perform and sing in front of an audience, and it was exhilirating to do so. I enjoyed playing music for ourselves, but also for others. Preparing for a show was nervewracking but super fun and the shows were always fun.
